    Clinton had it wrong. In a free society responsibility starts with the people.That’s a republic. The political spectrum is best viewed against Freedom and Enslavement. As government takes over the responsibilities of the individual it is moving toward the Left. Communism strips all responsibility from the citizen, who have no real freedom. The book THE POLITICAL SPECTRUM: Freedom vs. Enslavement, (Amazon.com) shows this relationship of government to the freedom of individuals. Its not confusing.

    The problem for scandanavia and other northern european countries is they are being weighed down by two things: the debt crisis in Southern Europe (brought on by corruption and crooked banks giving Greece extortionate loans) and exposure to the American subprime crisis.

    Which Scandinavian countries are actually 100% “Socialist”? Do a little more research about the strength of their economy as well. Do you really think it can withstand the future? Come back to me on that one after you do your research. Maybe an honest, smooth debate can come out of it.

    In the US, those low income areas, high population of minorities, and high crime rate only show a problem with the people running those cities, the Mayors. They also happen to most likely be a Democrat. Google away and you’ll find it to be true. Who do you think hold down the minorities? Republicans who want people to work hard to get what they want or the Democrats who usually reward people for failing at life. Yeah I feel for kids born into it, but the mentality that is created is far worse.

    This guy is a wannabe Glenn Beck. Since Glenn was on the right, he chose the left. The old Turk is trying to change the history of America by taking it out of context. Why should anyone listen to a man who is living in America who only considers himself Turkish?

    “The new covenant can break the cycle of welfare. Welfare should be a second chance, not a way of life. In my administration we’re going to put an end to welfare as we have come to know it..” -bill clinton

    He was not proposing to end it

    “Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are…[a] few other Texas oil millionaries, and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid. ”

    -That was Eisenhower himself.

    @Packerd01
    They are more left wing than the Conservative Party yes, but they have moved significantly to the right since the 80’s . Crime rates are always highest in large cities, and crime is always highest in low income areas, which happen to be in cities, because that’s where people go for jobs, but get exploited. And yes crime rates have gone up in Norway, but they too have become more right wing since the 80s cont.

    @Packerd01
    Tony Blair was a “third way” labour mp, as was Bill Clinton (for the democrats though), so they were still pretty right, and those two countries dragged everyone with them so that even their left wing politics were more centre than left. Have you not realized that countries that were more regulated (Canada, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway etc.) are in much better shape than the less regulated countries (US, UK, Italy etc.)
    and btw proove your crime stats about sweden being high crime

    @Packerd01
    Greece had a Conservative party in power from 2004 to 2009, they were the ones that set the country up to fail. Spain and Portugal did have left wing governments leading up to the recession, but if you watched the video you would understand that what is “left wing” today would have been called “right wing” before Reagan and Thatcher policies. France has had a right wing government since 2002, Germany 2005, Netherlands 2002. cont

    @Packerd01
    Socialists are not in power in any major western country in the world (except for the Scandinavian, which are in better shape than most) the continuation of right wing economics is just dragging the economy down more

  13. classiclibertarian

    A major problem with politics is where people incorrectly label things “right-wing” and “left-wing”. It should be divided into “Corporatism”, “Socialism”, and “capitalism” (at least on the economic side. Social issues need another chart).

  14. 893160007

    So many countries electing right wing governments so silly, when all the left wing countries were least harmed by the recession, the spectrum will shift left soon

  15. Frogboss6

    left? right? middle? why cant we do whats best for the country and forget about liberals and conservatives. right now, America SHOULD be post racial and we should have a system in which everyone gets an equal opportunity at success. what the people need is freedom and less government

  16. TheRevolution1988

    There was a bit of a reaction in the ’80s on some things like taxes, welfare and crime. But I think that american ‘liberals’ and Democratic Party have become ‘conservatives’ in the sense they mostly focus on defending the post-60s status quo now. Entitlements, high immigration levels, affirmative action, and ‘humanitarian intervention’ are all policies from that era that have become entrenched because mainstream ‘progressives’ AND (neo)conservatives support them to varying extents.

  17. Joe Blow

    What this dumb ass liberal (Cenk) is saying is if “you can’t beat’ em, join’ em”, Cenk’s trying to say that he and Obama are on the right. So Cenk the left is Right and the Right is far Right. This video is bullshit. If anything both parties are more in the middle.

  18. pandafatxXx

    what about the civil rights act of 1957 that the Democrats filibutered? weird huh?
    No LBJ was smart he wanted lots of control and power look at what he did in vietnam. And Eisenhower didn’t like the military industrial complex, but it was necessary to counter the communists

    i hate the msnbc…. im not going into alot of explaining on why this so called spectrum is full of shit, besides the fact that it only go’s left or right…. fuck red, fuck blue, fuck purple….. go green now…. were becoming a authoritarian nation while they distract you with this left/right bullshit…. go liberty, go liberal, go libertarian, but go now before its too late…

  20. lordofthechix

    Like i said to theawesomemanman, the U.S. hasn’t been far right since the 20’s at least. Since FDR our government has increased its power and spending substantially. Why do you think our debt is so high? America shouldn’t be far right tho, because that is anarchy. Government must protect us and our businesses, but we’ve stretched the definition of “protect” far too much, so now we are dependent on the government for more than it can handle.
